  • Australia
The weather was still poor when we got up but we decided to make our way over to the main attractions in the Blue Mountains anyway. We started off at Echo Point where we had an uninterrupted view of the three sisters three rocks standing side by side. In the background we could see the distant mountains and they really were tinged with a bluey purple haze. Unfortunately it started to pour down

I have been here for almost three months now and I thought I would just write a little over view of my thoughts about being here and things like that..Well I already am learning so much about different cultures different perspectives different languages different faces different everything but yet at the same time I am learning that no matter where you are you will always find things that are

  • No good very bad awful day
Our 200 baht a night hut on the pier was not so bad at all. I didn't get a single bite. Other than it being noisy it was a great place really. I woke up in the middle of the night to our first rain. More like monsoon it was crazy. i went outside for a minute but there wasn't anywhere to stand in the rain. the whole pier is covered in most parts. in the morning the only evidence was the big puddl

  • Australia
We had preordered a breakfast through room service the night before. It seemed like a good idea to eat before leaving to pick up the van so that when we did our first food shop we wouldnrsquot go into the supermarket starving and spend a fortune. Wersquod carefully picked a filling but cheap breakfast of eggs on toast from the menu. When it arrived we took the lids of the plates to reveal a

  • Little Ol' Melaka
Melaka is a lovely little town which has been given world heritage status this year and deservedly so The Dutch English and Portuguese settled there many moons ago so the buildings are a mixture of styles and very pretty The streets are very narrow and cobbled which makes you feel like yoursquore in an old Spanish town and there is a river running through the middle just a very relaxing

  • Australia
I literally had to drag Matt out of bed as wersquod planned to do the beach leg of the hop on hop off bus tour. The weather was glorious and a couple of minutes after leaving the hotel we had to turn back to get our hats as we suddenly realised how strong the sun was. The bus stop was next to a famous pie stall it had sole pies to lots of celebrities and had photos on the side of the van to pro

  • In Sydney
We arrived in Sydney today and I saw the Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. They were both very beautiful and I took many pictures but can't post them from the computer I am using to type this message. I will post them as soon as possible. We visited an aquarium today and I saw Sharks so I was so happy. They look so menacing and dangerous but they move incredibly gracefully in the wate

  • Celebrating Loy Krathong
The Loy Krathong is one of the biggest celebrations in Thailand. It is traditionally performed on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month usually a day in November. Loy means to float. Krathong is a small raft traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk although modernday versions use specially made bread 'flowers' or styrofoam decorated with elaboratelyfolded banana le

I managed to drag Matt out of the room fairly early by our standards to buy a hop on hop off bus ticket to take us around the city sights. We jumped off after a couple of stops at a viewing platform of the bridge and opera house. • Working at last
Quick post as only have a few minutes on the internet. Loving my first week working for Liz and Barry. We're on a 60000 acre cattle station an hour away from Clermont NW Queensland. No phone signal or internet Liz is kindly letting us use her computer for a few minutes tonight. Being eaten alive by mosquitos Other than that it's fab. Luckily we haven't had any storms here at all but have se

  • Enter the Druk
We have just one week left of work before traveling east a little into Bhutan for about a week. The quotation marks are necessary for several reasons. Similar to previous locations work days are typically from 9 to 3. This is not unexpected and now not a novelty. I'm at the point where if we finish at 315 I feel entitled to reward myself for all my hard work. I'm sure this newly emb

  • A Spanner in the Works
As most of you know but I'm sure some still do not two weeks ago I was forced to make a hasty exit from my cushy little life in Scotland and undertake a 40 hour journey to get myself to Auckland. I had 10 hours between receiving the phone call telling me I had to leave and leaving the hostel to catch a train to the bus which would get me to the airport in Glasgow in time for my flight. To cut a

  • Sail away to Lembongan
It was with very heavy hearts that we said goodbye to all our friends in Junjungan. Putting it simply I goofed. I should have booked twice as long. There is so much of the real Bali to experience here and we gave it up in order to return to the Sanitised BeachA pleasant surprise awaited our arrival. I had upgraded to a middle range room for our last nine days. Sanur Beach went one better and gav

  • One of the reasons why I haven't blogged in a few days

  • Not Dead Shiften Gears
Today is the first day that I have logged on to my blog in apparently a long time.In case you were worried I am not dead. I am very much in a period of transition. I have been here several months and settled into my site. The traveler side of me is fading away as I embrace my commitment to serve. I am moving blog sites from travelblogs to yavindia.net seeing as I a

  • Filling in the gaps
Hey allWell I certainly have been slacking with this blog bonanza obviously because we are having such an action packed fantastic time and there are far more interesting things to do than spend my precious moments updating a blog. Well that's a far better reason than my sheer laziness. Since the last entry which if my memory servies me correctly was from Saigon we have enjoyed visits to Nh

  • Is that Wally....well he wasnt that hard to find
Before I start I must apologise about the absence of pictures I'm having slight technical issues with uploading them at current. Anyways on a lighter note we had a wild time in Vang Vieng. It was basically what we expected its Laos version of Malaga a type of party destination. Our time in Vang Vieng was brief due to not being too much to do. But we did do the obvious and had a day of tubing.

  • An Eternity of Illness
It seems that every time I start to think I'm getting better my stomach does a flip and starts to cramp even worse than it did before. If I had to describe my pain I'd say it feels like my stomach is like a washcloth. Things are going through my stomach like water would go through a washcloth if it were hanging up and water was being poured onto the top of it. My stomach is trying to take

My room overlooks the running track and basketball court and each student is encouraged to exercise each day as part of their studies so students are seem ambling around the tracks at various times of the day. The basketball courts are busy most of the day with groups of students hanging out and shooting baskets.Ther
